Sizing Up the Competition: Using StatsAmerica for Regional Comparisons

You are invited to a StatsAmerica webinar! Thursday, April 29 at 1:00 PM EDT.

This webinar on using StatsAmerica for regional comparisons includes a demonstration of the comparison features of some of the tools, a discussion on how you can use comparisons in your work, and some time for feedback.

Learn how to use the comparison features to see how your region stacks up to others on a variety of dimensions. For example, you can use the Towns in Profile to easily compare data about a city or town to the state in which it's located. You can use the Counties in Profile and Anywhere USA tools to compare counties and many other geographies to each other across multiple data sets. Economic Development Districts (EDDs) can use the CEDS Resource Library Peer Finder to find EDDs that are similar based on characteristics like population and per-capita income. EDDs can also review outstanding CEDS (Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies) by looking at exemplars.

We will feature these tools and others during the use case-focused demo and discussion. We hope you will join us!

About the StatsAmerica webinar series

Last fall, we launched our series of webinars/demos for StatsAmerica.org, a site built for and used by hundreds of thousands of people each year to help in their community, workforce and economic development efforts. The site was built and is maintained by Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC) at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, and receives significant support from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA).

  • To fulfill our goal of providing actionable data and insights for community and economic developers, these sessions will show users how they can use the plethora of tools and data on the site. We also want to leverage the expertise of our users to enhance our offerings.

  • The first part of each session is a brief tutorial on effectively using the tool. In the second part of the session, we look forward to hearing your ideas for additional content and functionality you’d like for the tool.

This is your opportunity to learn about StatsAmerica tools and data and influence the future of the site!
